Users may encounter accessibility problems on the site. The following is a description of known accessibility issues and our plans to fix them.

If you notice a problem on the site that is not listed, please contact us. If you need help using the site, contact customer service by phone.

Shipment tracking

There are accessibility issues in tracking shipments for keyboard and screen reader users. The problems are being fixed and we expect them to be fixed in early 2024.

Use of different transaction forms

The Postache.fi website has numerous forms that consumers can use to order services, cancel services, notify of changes, suggest stamp subjects, and so on. Some of these forms contain problems for users of assistive technologies.

The accessibility of the forms is constantly being improved. Some of Postache's old-look forms will be built completely new, and others will be corrected as needed.

PDF files

The website contains PDF files with published information about sending letters and international packages. Not all files are accessible and may cause difficulties for users of screen readers. We are working to make PDF files published after September 23, 2018 accessible in 2024.

Inaccessible content

Parts not covered by legislation

This website publishes content for business customers that does not fall within the scope of Postache's basic service obligation and therefore does not fall within the scope of accessibility requirements in terms of current legislation. Although we also promote the accessibility of this content and functionality, content aimed at business customers, for example, is not included in this statement.

Please note the exception for mobile applications for the time being, which is mentioned in the next subsection. If you're reporting problems with mobile apps, make sure you're using the latest version of the app.

Postache will update the Android and iOS applications during the fall of 2023, while improving their accessibility. The new apps will be downloadable from the app store for everyone by the end of 2023. Users should make sure the app is updated to the latest released version to ensure the most accessible experience.

Advancement in service

The service has problems when using the keyboard and screen reader. The user may get stuck on a view and some information such as shipping information, invoices or letters may be difficult to access or require a significant number of keystrokes.

Receiving Shipments

When using the keyboard, making recipient selections for receiving shipments, such as choosing a delivery time, can be difficult.

Opening electronic letters

Electronic letters are delivered in PDF format, which may not be accessible. Please see the note below about undue burden.

Postache's new mobile application

(released October 2023)

A new version of Postache's mobile application (Android version 6.0.0 or higher and iOS version 6.0.0 or higher) was released in October 2023.

We are committed to ensuring that our Postache mobile application is accessible to all people, regardless of their abilities or limitations. The Postache mobile application is designed to comply with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards at the AA level. Our goal is to meet and exceed these standards to provide a smooth experience for all users.

The accessibility of Postache's mobile application, released in October 2023, was assessed for the last time in September 2023, during which we also identified a few shortcomings, which are described below and listed in order of priority in the work queue to be fixed. In the evaluation of the mobile application, we did not identify any problems preventing use or progress in the service in using the application, in the service experience of receiving a package, or in using the digital mailbox, with the exception of some digital PDF letters that cannot be read with assistive technology.

Identified findings related to accessibility in the Postache mobile application:

  • Some of the PDF letters in the digital mailbox cannot be read with assistive technology in the mobile application. We are working together with digital letter operators and senders to fix these shortcomings.
  • We identified gaps in the coverage of the image descriptions.
  • We identified flaws in the use of colors, contrast, and the size of the touch areas of buttons or links.
  • We also identified areas for improvement in the content's structure and comprehensibility in the assessment made with the help of assistive technology.

Identified deficiencies will be corrected iteratively after publication during the years 2023-2024.

Inaccessible content

Unreasonable burden

In the case of digital letters and their preview images, the Postache service offers consumers content produced by third parties. Postache recommends content producers to implement letters with accessible technologies, but we cannot technically guarantee accessibility or edit letters without violating letter confidentiality. Recipients can therefore receive letters in PDF format, which is not accessible. For technical and legislative reasons, Postache considers that, as the operator of the forwarding service, it unfortunately cannot guarantee the accessibility of the content to be forwarded.

Postache self-service kiosk accessibility statement

This accessibility statement was made for the first time on 21.12.2020 and last updated on 6.9.2023

This accessibility statement applies to the Postache self-service kiosk. Kiosk devices are permanently installed terminals in public spaces for sending and returning letters and packages. The Postache kiosk should not be confused with the self-service terminals of Parkettautomaats (domestic parcel services are not part of Postache's general services).

Formal compliance with accessibility requirements

Partially compliant: some of the content does not fully meet the requirements.

Known accessibility issues

We have listed the known accessibility deficiencies below. Please contact us if you notice a problem that has not been mentioned.

The upper parts of the user interface are out of reach

Using the device from a wheelchair can put the functions located at the top of the screen out of the user's reach. These include changing the language or starting a customer service video connection. In a video chat, a person sitting in a wheelchair or shorter than usual does not appear in the picture. For the time being, we recommend customers suffering from this problem to do business at our service points or phone service.

No option for a visual interface

The device currently does not offer any way to use the service for a severely visually impaired or blind person. For the time being, we recommend customers suffering from this problem to do business at our service points or the telephone service.

Difficulty perceiving text and graphics

Because of the color combinations used (orange and white), it can be difficult to read the text and understand the illustrations.

The page navigation and menus differ from Postache's other sites

This site uses navigation different from other Postache sites, which can cause confusion.

We are currently preparing a new service to replace the current customer information system. We expect the new system to come into use at the beginning of 2024, when the problems mentioned here will disappear.
